Why we collect and use your data

We collect and use your data for various purposes. To comply with the GDPR we must have a “lawful basis” for doing so and we are legally obliged to tell you what this is.  The lawful basis will vary depending on the type of information and how we collected it:

  • If you are a customer, we will use the information you provide to us in order to carry out our obligations to you under a contract (this does not necessarily mean a written contract); this information will typically include your name, job title, organisation and contact details
  • If you are a participant at one of our events, we may subsequently use your information to send you marketing material about other events and services you may be interested in; this will be for our legitimate interests and the information will typically include your name, job title, organisation, contact details and the event you attended
  • If you subscribe to our newsletter (TRA ENews), you are giving your consent for us to use your email address to manage our newsletter database
  • If you subscribe to our mailing list, you are giving your consent for us to use your information to manage our mailing list database; this information will typically include your name, job title, organisation, contact details and the type of services you are interested in
  • If you visit our website, we may use your information to monitor the use of the site and to improve the site and the visitor’s experience; this will be for our legitimate interests and the information will typically include your IP address, device/browser information and on-site activities. Like most websites our site uses cookies to improve the user experience. Most browsers automatically accept cookies but you can usually modify your settings to decline cookies if you prefer, although this may prevent you from taking full advantage of our website.

When you subscribe to our mailing list your details are kept securely in-house by Trevor Roberts Associates and are not shared with anyone.

If you subscribe to our newsletter (TRA ENews) your email address is transferred to Mailjet but will not be processed for any purpose other than the management of our ENews subscription database. Mailjet is ISO 27001 certified, GDPR compliant and stores data exclusively in the EU.

We use Google Analytics (operated by Google) to monitor visitor behaviour on our website in order to improve the site and the visitor experience. Google is ISO 27001 certified. Although Google stores data in the US, it has certification to the EU Privacy Shield Framework. If you wish you can download the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Other than as described above we will not share your data with anyone else, unless required by law to do so. We will never sell your data to a third party.

Data accuracy

We do our best to ensure that the data we store and use is accurate and up-to-date. If the information we hold about you needs to be corrected or updated please let us know as soon as possible.

How long your data is kept

If you subscribe to our newsletter or mailing list your data will be stored until you opt-out or unsubscribe. In all other cases, your information will be stored for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which it is being processed.

Data security

Your data may be stored on our company local file systems, cloud storage or backup systems. We take all reasonable precautions to ensure these locations are secured and not accessible to anyone outside our company.
