Basildon Council attaches great importance to the protection and enhancement of its natural and built environments. It is particularly protective of its Green Belt and constantly seeks to robustly enforce planning controls throughout the borough to ensure public confidence is maintained in the planning regime.

The Council is seeking to recruit an experienced, highly motivated, organised individual who is looking for a fresh challenge and career progression into the post of Principal Planning Officer (Enforcement). That person will have a sound practical knowledge of the planning enforcement tool kit, planning processes and procedures, together with the ability to work positively within a pressurised, demanding environment.

The successful candidate will be a key member of the Planning Enforcement Team, working closely with the Planning Enforcement Manager and other team members to deliver the effective and efficient enforcement of planning controls throughout the borough to agreed performance standards and corporate priorities.

The successful candidate will assist the Planning Enforcement Manager in the supervision and mentoring of other team members, including the provision of expert advice and guidance whilst progressing a demanding caseload of complex cases. The post holder will have the ability to engender confidence in others by being a positive team player and the aptitude to deal positively with difficult situations.

This is an exciting and rare opportunity for a qualified planner to join a progressive enforcement team and expand their knowledge of planning law and practice, while gaining supervisory experience.

If you feel you have the necessary qualities then we would like to hear from you.
