Operating as a member of the Authority’s Leadership Group, you will contribute to and be collectively accountable for the management of development within the National Park and the achievement of the Authority’s spatial planning policies and its community development strategies.

The post-holder is responsible for managing the Authority’s Development Management service, providing leadership to this important function to ensure that the special qualities of the National Park are understood and protected in order to deliver the Authority’s statutory purposes.  The post-holder will play a key role in Planning Committees and will have a close relationship with Members. The Authority takes a very proactive approach to development management and values its relationship with local communities. The Development Service comprises 4 teams, including 2 Area teams, a Monitoring and Enforcement Team and a Minerals Team.  The Authority is a significant Minerals Planning Authority; whilst some minerals experience would be desirable, it is not essential.

This is a newly established post which offers the chance to be at the heart of the key decisions on development in the National Park.  There is scope to achieve tangible environmental benefits and significant job satisfaction.
