Hours: 29.6 Hrs (4 days per week)
Salary: Grade 7 £24,799 - £26,317 (pro rata)

We are looking to appoint a keen, organised, and suitably qualified Conservation Officer to join our busy Planning team.
The successful candidate will support the council’s planning function by providing advice on all matters relating to the historic built environment and the borough’s heritage assets, including by managing a caseload of planning applications and listed building consent applications involving designated and non-designated heritage assets, leading on the regular review of the council’s seven conservation areas and formulation of appropriate policies to ensure the proper conservation and enhancement of the historic environment, and taking a lead role in projects/bids relating to heritage matters. The successful candidate will also be responsible for providing pre-application advice on conservation matters to developers and the general public.
Together with a degree or equivalent qualification in Planning, Architecture, or Historic Building Conservation, you should have good communication skills, sound judgment and the ability to work effectively as a team member. Knowledge and understanding of current planning legislation and experience of development management work is highly desirable.
