Lancaster City Council can offer this exciting opportunity to join their Development Management Team, located in a district with an enviable and diverse mix of historic city, seaside town, extensive rural areas and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The post holder will play a key role in managing the district’s Tree Preservation Order and Conservation Area Trees portfolio and planning processes. In addition the successful candidate will provide expert professional arboricultural advice for planning applications.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of arboricultural legislation; an ability to organise and prioritise a busy workload; and will possess excellent written, verbal and presentational skills. These attributes will be put to good use when compiling formal evaluations and assessments of trees and presenting any tree-related appeals that may arise from your own casework.
You should have an appropriate arboricultural-related degree or HNC/HND equivalent, and will have gained previous experience within the arboricultural industry either in the private or public sectors.
A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to visit sites to undertake formal assessments.
The hours of work for this position are 37 per week, working Monday to Friday. The Council currently operates a Flexible Working Hours Scheme which applies to this post. This post is based at Morecambe Town Hall. On occasion, work outside of normal working hours will be required in accordance to the needs of the Service.
