We are currently recruiting for a Planning Officer to our Development Control Team. This is a great opportunity to join a friendly and supportive  team and to gain some wide ranging experience in a small Local Authority. You will undertake the day to day Development Control duties including managing a varied  caseload of all types of planning applications  (dependant upon experience), pre-application enquiries and appeals. The  job description and person specification outline the type of person we are  looking for. We welcome applicants at all levels.

For Level 1, 5 GCSE passes, including higher grades (C or above) in English and Mathematics and 2 A levels or equivalent qualifications or at least 2 years experience in a planning environment are required. For Levels 2 and 3, qualifications which meet the educational requirements to become a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute i.e. degree or equivalent are required.

We are looking for a positive and flexible person who has experience in a Local Government or other public organisation and an interest in and understanding of Planning Legislation and Development Control activities, someone who has the ability to analyse and resolve complex information and has excellent written and verbal communication skills with the motivation and time management skills to meet tight deadlines and can work equally in a team and on their own initiative.
