Planning Policy and Conservation Manager
Surrey Heath Borough Council

Hours: 37 per week
Salary: £51,289 - £56,828 per annum + £5,000 golden hello
Grade: SH09
Closing date: Sunday 2 September
Interview date: TBC

The Borough of Surrey Heath is diverse and in addition to urban locations and Camberley Town Centre contains countryside and rural settlements, conservation areas, Green Belt land and sites of nature conservation such as the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area. You will need to be able to weigh up the competing demands of different interests, securing sustainable development which meets social and economic needs, but which also protects and enhances our environment.

This makes Surrey Heath a challenging but interesting place to work. The Council is in the early stages of producing a new Local Plan to take forward the vision for the Borough up to 2032.

Other important areas of work include regeneration of Camberley Town Centre, review of Community Infrastructure Levy, Special Protection Area mitigation, and a number of emerging Neighbourhood Plans. In addition to planning policy work you will also manage the joint infrastructure work with Surrey County Council and this will include a key role in the submission of LEP bids.

The successful applicant will need to demonstrate strong commitment, be a polished communicator and be able to lead and manage effectively. The post holder must be able to represent the Council at all levels of government and with key partner organisations and be politically aware.

Applicants will need to be Chartered Town Planners.
