Exciting opportunities for Development Management Officers at various levels and within the Enforcement Team to play a key role in one of London’s most progressive and exciting boroughs.
Lewisham is undergoing huge transformation with unparalleled levels of investment, and a regeneration programme for the area more ambitious than any since the Victorian era. With major developments in Catford, Lewisham, Deptford, New Cross and others across the borough, award winning schemes, two Housing Zones and the Bakerloo Line extension, the transformation is well underway.
We have a newly reshaped service with new posts and are seeking a range of different officers with different types and levels of experience, from those at the very beginning of their careers through to senior or principal officers wanting to apply their skills and expand their horizons.
The work we have is diverse, exciting and challenging and you will be working with a friendly team that is dedicated, positive and focussed on quality and high performance.
You will make a significant contribution to the regeneration of the borough through the innovative and practical development of proposals for planning permission to ensure that growth and regeneration in the borough is delivered in line with the Development Plan and achieves a high quality design and placemaking.
What we’re looking for
Positions existing from entry level (Scale 4 to Scale 6), at SO1 and at PO4 for Planning Officers, to work within the Development Management section.
A position also exists for a Planning Officer at PO1 level within the Enforcement team.
For all positions, you should be able to demonstrate integrity and a strong drive and aptitude to deliver positive outcomes individually and as part of a team, helping to promote and deliver the boroughs development and growth sustainably and to the highest standard.
In more senior positions (PO1 and above), you will be able to demonstrate that you are a strong role model with a personal commitment to and responsibility for a high quality of work across the team. You will have a track record of identifying, and helping deliver upon long term goals and continuous improvement, communicating effectively, supporting and helping develop others to make a real contribution to the achievement of these goals.
In return, we’ll offer excellent development opportunities, plus a range of benefits that includes a career average pension scheme, flexible working and the opportunity to make a real difference to our local community.
