The Borough of Broxbourne is in south east Hertfordshire bordering London and the M25, with a population of about 93,600. Stratford International station is 25 minutes by train and there is good access to airports and the rest of the country. Broxbourne is a Green Belt borough containing much of the Lee Valley Regional Park and is home to the White Water Centre which hosted the canoeing events at the London 2012 Olympics. Broxbourne has ambitious plans to deliver high quality retail, residential and commercial developments through its emerging Local Plan, whilst seeking to conserve its towns, villages and beautiful countryside.
The successful applicant will take a lead role in the examination, adoption and implementation of key aspects of the Local Plan. Responsibilities will include preparation of individual plans, strategies, action plans, planning briefs and areas of evidence as well as deputising for the Planning Policy Manager.
It is anticipated that the successful candidate will be able to represent the Council and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, will be able to draft reports and explain a range of complex planning policy matters, and will mentor and manage more junior members of the team. Suitable planning qualifications as well as familiarity with the National Planning Policy Framework are essential.
An appointment will be made at either Principal or Senior Planning Officer level dependent on skills and experience.
The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluent English is essential in this post.
