Trevor Roberts Associates (increasingly known as TRA) was established by Trevor Roberts, MA (Cantab) Dip TP, in 1984. Trevor qualified in town planning and worked for many years in local government planning and housing, ending as Director of Housing. He became a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute in 1971 and was the Institute’s President in 1998/99.
The organisation began by providing training and consultancy services for the public sector generally, especially around management and organisational issues but since the early 1990's has focused almost exclusively on the town planning service. As a result, we have an extensive track record of supporting planning practitioners and local planning authorities stretching back more than 20 years.
Penny O'Shea, BA Hons, joined the organisation in 1997 and became one of its Directors in 2002. She was appointed Co-Principal Director alongside Trevor Roberts in 2007 before his eventual retirement in the summer of 2009. Penny continues to manage the business as Principal Director and although Trevor has no day-to-day involvement in the business he remains Chairman of the Board of Directors.
