The TRA Training Workshop Programme for 2019-20 has now entered it's Summer break until September. Bookings are going well for the next section of the programme with a couple of workshops approaching being fully booked. However places are still available on most of the workshops including two events focusing on the delivery of large residential sites, which would be of interest to both development management and planning policy staff:
An Introduction to Delivering Large Strategic Sites and New Settlements - Manchester, 20 November 2019
This recently developed workshop will explore the delivery process for large-scale, residential-led sites and new settlements (including Garden Towns and Villages). It explores the challenges and issues involved in creating new communities and examines good practice from around the country, looking at urban extensions and free-standing settlements, to understand how these challenges are being tackled. The workshop will take participants through the whole process of delivery, from the importance of formulating a robust planning policy at the outset through to delivery mechanisms to ensure implementation. It will be useful for Policy and Development Management officers alike, along with any other officers involved in the planning delivery process for strategic, large-scale schemes. There will be ample time for discussion and problem solving during the day.
An Introduction to Masterplanning - London, 5 March 2020
This interactive workshop is for those involved in development management, planning policy and all related development disciplines, who want to understand the masterplanning process for large, residential sites and how to create effective, quality led masterplans that will facilitate delivery. The key objectives of the workshop will be to enable participants to develop a broader understanding and appreciation of the overall masterplanning process and the level of spatial and delivery detail needed at each stage of the planning process. Participants will also explore techniques for producing, reviewing and implementing masterplans, spatial frameworks and development briefs – based on the examination of good practice case studies. Practical exercises will be used throughout to provide a hands on and lively workshop that will encourage full participation.
Both these workshops will be presented by Stephen Hill, Director of Hyas Associates, who has 25 years experience in this field and particular skills in managing large scale development projects through the planning process.
Futher details for each of the workshops are available on our website via the above links. Bookings can be made online via the website.
