TRA recently collaborated with Hyas Associates to develop a brand new series of training sessions, looking at a range of issues relating to the planning and delivery process for housing and large schemes. Amongst these is How to deliver quality residential schemes - a half-day workshop aimed specifically at Councillors who want to better understand how to deliver quality residential environments.
Using a mixture of presentation and interactive exercises, the workshop is particularly relevant for those areas that are planning for large scale residential developments and want to know how to ensure that quality places are achieved. The workshop focuses on:
- what good quality looks like, based on examples from around the country
- how good masterplanning aids quality
- the key issues in the planning process to look out for to ensure a quality place is created.
The workshop can be delivered in either a morning, afternoon or evening to suit and in line with our overall approach to training, sessions will include as much interaction and discussion as possible. Our training sessions for Councillors can accommodate up to a maximum of 25 participants; numbers are limited to encourage interaction and participation.
The Presenter, Stephen Hill, is a Chartered Town Planner and a founding Director of Hyas. He has over 30 years' experience, having worked in local planning authorities within development management, planning policy and regeneration, including senior management roles, and more recently at ATLAS. Steve has particular skills in managing large scale development projects through the planning process; advising on policy approaches to strategic sites; masterplanning; building capacity to deal with large projects; and the deliverability of quality places.
Hyas Associates is a national, multi-disciplinary practice consisting of senior professionals with extensive experience of planning for and delivering all aspects of large scale, residential-led sites. The company acts directly for numerous local authorities across the country providing advice, guidance and support on planning and delivery issues and therefore has a range of up-to-date and relevant experience and knowledge to draw on.
