As part of our recently launched 2018-19 workshop programme TRA is introducing a brand new workshop for those who want to learn (more) about masterplanning. An Introduction to Masterplanning will take place at our London venue on 20 November 2018.
This interactive workshop is aimed at those who want to understand the masterplanning process for residential sites and how to create effective, quality led masterplans that will facilitate delivery. The key objectives of the workshop will be to:
- enable participants to develop a broader understanding and appreciation of the overall masterplanning process and the level of spatial and delivery detail needed at each stage of the planning process
- help participants to understand the differences between masterplans, spatial frameworks and development briefs – and when to use them
- explore good examples of masterplans and define what quality places look like
- provide an opportunity to share experiences and learning with other planning and design professionals.
The course is very practical, so the focus will be on good practice from around the country in the form of case examples, but will also examine techniques and approaches that practitioners can apply themselves. There will be ample time for questions and discussion, to explore current issues faced by participants and to share experiences between attendees.
The workshop is part of a new suite of training sessions being developed by TRA in association with Hyas Associates. Hyas Associates is a national, multi-disciplinary practice consisting of senior professionals with extensive experience of planning for and delivering all aspects of large scale, residential-led sites. The company acts directly for numerous local authorities across the country providing advice, guidance and support on planning and delivery issues and therefore has a range of up-to-date and relevant experience and knowledge to draw on. The workshop will be delivered by a member of the Hyas team.
