Understanding Prior Approval Notifications New

This brand new workshop for 2020 looks in detail at how the Prior Approval Notification process works. Since 2010 the rise in the number of Prior Approval applications and subsequent appeals has led to a greater need to understand the procedures and processes involved. The workshop will consider the submission requirements in Paragraph W of the GPDO; some of the most frequently encountered classes, including larger house extensions and Classes O, PA, Q and R; how applications should be processed; and the issues Inspectors look at in appeals. It will therefore be suitable for both local authority staff dealing with prior approval applications and those submitting them. Its aim is to help participants develop the knowledge and confidence essential in dealing with this complex aspect of the planning system. Crucially, it will provide an opportunity for participants to ask any questions about prior approval notifications and to be made aware of any changes the Government may be proposing to the regime.
