Permitted Development and dealing with Prior Approval Notifications
Inter-Authority Training

This workshop is suitable for anyone who has to deal with enquiries about Permitted Development (PD) or in order to deal with alleged unauthorised development which might turn out to be PD. The workshop looks at how PD works and provides some crucial definitions and help in interpreting and applying the most frequently used classes, some of which include the prior approval notification procedure. The aim of this workshop is to help participants develop the knowledge and confidence essential in dealing with these complex aspects of Development Management. There will be opportunities to look at Householder PD and Minor Operations using case studies and participants’ own concerns about these and other classes. How the Prior Notification procedure works, how the notification should be processed, and what “impacts” can be taken into account will also be considered. Crucially, this workshop provides an opportunity for delegates to ask any questions about PD in order to develop their knowledge and confidence.

In the absence of recognised Scottish training for Planning Enforcement Officers, this course provided the most important; relevant; best structured input I’ve received in 6 months of performing the role. Invaluable.
