Comparing Practice in Validating Planning Applications and Prior Notifications New
Inter-Authority Training

Validation is a crucial, complex and time-sensitive process and it is essential that the correct statutory consultation and publicity is then given to an application. There is not a “one size fits all” for the front-end processes that applications must undergo and in recent years TRA has run an extremely popular knowledge-based workshop on what is required for a wide range of applications. In contrast, this workshop aims to compare practice by providing a unique opportunity to focus on the different approaches of local authorities in validating and going public on planning applications and prior approval notifications; the main workload of most offices. The aims of the day are to ensure that participants are up-to-date on the requirements for handling planning applications/ notifications but also to help them identify good practice and opportunities to make this key element of the planning process more efficient and effective. It will therefore be suitable for staff involved on a day-to-day basis with front-end processes, their immediate managers and also managers of the DM service.
