A Forum on Enforcement
Inter-Authority Training

TRA began running this annual event in 1990. Over the past 27 years it has become extremely popular and has established itself as the largest gathering in the UK of those at the sharp end of the statutory planning system. The Forum provides a unique opportunity to learn from a highly experienced panel of contributors and exchange useful experience with other participants in a structured, but not overly formal atmosphere.

The details for this year's Forum have now been finalised and below is the list of contributors and the topics they will be discussing:

  • Izindi Visagie, Solicitor with Ivy Legal - A Legal Update of recent enforcement case law
  • Nicola Rigby, Planning Enforcement Manager with Blackpool Council - The Council's experience of dealing with a range of issues using new powers such as Community Protection Notices
  • Darren Sedman-Hobson, Planning and Building Enforcement Officer with Test Valley Borough Council - Deliberate Concealment of potential breaches of planning control
  • Olivia Stapleford, Senior Planning Enforcement Officer with Buckinghamshire County Council - How County and Districts can work together to achieve compliance on mixed use sites
  • Stephen Alexander, Head of Planning at the City of Wolverhampton Council - The Benefits of a 'Systems Thinking' approach to managing planning and enforcement caseloads.

The Forum will be chaired by Emma Turner, Development Management Team Leader (Enforcement) with South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils.
