A Forum on Enforcement
Inter-Authority Training

TRA began running this annual event in 1990. Over the past 28 years it has become extremely popular and has established itself as the largest gathering in the UK of those at the sharp end of the statutory planning system. The Forum provides a unique opportunity to learn from a highly experienced panel of contributors and exchange useful experience with other participants in a structured, but not overly formal atmosphere.

The most recent Forum took place in Manchester in October 2018 and the topics covered by our panel of contributors included:

  • A Legal Update of recent enforcement case law
  • Holiday Letting Accommodation and the problems associated with it
  • How to draft and defend Enforcement Notices particulary with respect to the 'Miller-Mead' test
  • Application of the provisions of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA)
  • Lessons from LGSCO Investigations into Enforcement Complaints, highlighting good practice alongside some of the faults.

The Forum was very well received and feedback included many positive comments, a selection of which can be seen below.

The next Forum will be in October 2019 and details will be posted here once they have been finalised in Spring / early Summer 2019.
